i copy explanation text from above report : "not own work, as claimed in description". in my words: "false source, false author, so, also no source, false license", «uploader has written "original work" and has written himself as author, though it is said time of making it is 1885. that's a photo. scanning is not creating. though making photo also, but it is usual to account photographer as author», «i am almost sure that he has not photographed it in 1885. let he write correct and source and author. or just "unknown", not himself. he could write at least from which book he has scanned it ... can i write "unknown"? ... if i do not know source, how can i be sure that it is public domain? because year 1885? may be it is not true 1885 but fake? »

Oppose I think that making a mistake in filling out the details of the file is not the reason for deletion, when it's almost certain that the file is in public domain. Beta M (talk) 18:53, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
- there is not only mistake, but also absence of origin, so, may be it is fake photo. i also say that he should fix file info, maybe i should just say this on uploader's page only, then, after some time, if he does not fix it, report here. --Qdinar (talk) 15:49, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
- as i understand, you mean to keep the image, because you have linked to public domain template page. as i had said, it is not approved that it is under public domain until source is known. person for whom source is unknown can think that it is maybe indeed own work of uploader and is fake old photo, and its license is as uploader has said. --Qdinar (talk) 08:10, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
Keep I don't think the uploader seriously meant to claim it was his original photo. Maybe he scanned it himself--it's a common mistake to upload such files as "own work". It seems quite plausible that this photo is from 1885, which would make it public domain. (It's also an odd date to make up out of the blue - if he didn't have good information, wouldn't he have chosen a round number?) Is there any particular reason why do you doubt that this photo was created then? Calliopejen1 (talk) 01:56, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
- i need not explain why i have doubts. i do not want to explain my doubts. lack of source book or newspaper etc is enough to delete it. i also do not want that it is deleted, if it is correct, but what should i do? may be i have made this wrong way not asking only the uploader first, but directly setting request for deletion, this now looks like forcing the uploader to fix it, while maybe it could be done without forcing. but i think, maybe, my way is can be considered just formally correct way, and we can force him, but he is forced only if he likes that photos he uploaded are saved/stored in wikipedia. probably he should now fix it. or write that he cannot fix it. or write some explanation. but, i now have looked his last edition: it is of 9th of october here, older than it in english and deutsch wikipedias. so, probably, he cannot edit this now. --Qdinar (talk) 10:25, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Delete. With a source for the date I possibly can make a different comment. But there is no source at all and I see no reason to make guesses on the copyright status based on nothing. --Martin H. I put no trust in an uploader who openly claims works that they did not create as their own in order to circumvent our system. Even if we trusted them completely, a photographer of age 20 in 1885 could easily have been alive in 1942, at the age of 77, which would make this not PD-old-70.
